Vulnerable Storytelling with Teens - local SXSWedu workshop

02/17/2020 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM ET
Location: Lang Carson Rec Center in Reynoldstown
100 Flat Shoals Rd. SE, ATL GA 30316

Join the re:imagine/ATL team for a professional development workshop designed for any teacher working with teens.

3 Learning Objectives

  • Tribe Mentality + I Love Myself - Identify a set of norms and exercises that will transform the relationship from Teacher/Student to a creative team.
  • Uta Hagen’s Six Steps - Examine yourself as a character using objectives & obstacles.  Discover the impact of being vulnerable & telling your own story.
  • Introspection: Turning Life into Art - Connect the dots.  How to turn your six steps into a logline for a documentary, narrative, or music video.

We will discuss and have exercises to help strengthen communication, vulnerability and creativity between educators & teens. Using Uta Hagen’s Six Steps, a character development tool used in theater, participants will learn how to teach teens to reimagine a critical life moment, exploring how circumstances impact self-perception, how relationships impact objectives, how obstacles give birth to intentions, and how to understand their reality via a logline.

This is a great resource for creative writing, social emotional learning, and engaging student's creativity in the classroom.

re:imagine/ATL has conducted teacher trainings across metro-Atlanta school districts and trained over 100 teachers in the past year. This workshop will be shared at SXSWEdu national conference in Austin this March.
Coffee and snacks will be served. We hope to see you there!
